ONE A few years ago we had a gingerbread house decorating competition with our whole family. It was a really fun and unforgettable Christmas campaign. The evening was put together, organized and planned by my daughter Courtney and her current fiancé! They brought the supplies for the houses, the frosting and the candy and even printed out DIY certificates for accomplishments such as “most creative” and “best effort”. We didn’t want to build perfect houses, we wanted to have fun together! After our gingerbread houses were built, we all admired the finished projects (and laughed!), Voted and each received an award! It was a hit with all ages and is such a fun memory!
We bought several gingerbread house sets from a grocery store (on sale), but you can also make them yourself (see the recipes linked in this post) or there are lots of great pre-made gingerbread house sets online!
Here are a few – many of which you can get in time for your holiday celebrations:
You can also a. use Gingerbread house bundt pan like this one here on Amazon– I’d like to try that!
Here are some pretty gingerbread houses for inspiration! I assure you none of us looked as beautiful as this one. Ha! But we still had fun doing them! Although after seeing these inspirational photos, I feel like it would be fun to learn a few techniques to improve my skills. Many of the images below have recipes and tips in the posts linked under each photo. Enjoy!
